4s Teacher Assistant: 2025-2026 School Year

Monday-Fridays 8:30AM-11:45AM

Pittsford Nursery School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to support our 4s lead teacher in providing a high-quality educational experience for our students. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the teacher to create a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere, assist with instructional activities, and provide individualized support to students. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about education and eager to contribute to a dynamic learning community.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classroom activities and lessons.

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction and support to students as directed by the teacher.

  • Help maintain a well-organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, snack, gross motor play, and field trips.

  • Assist with classroom management and reinforce positive student behavior.

  • Support students with special needs or learning challenges under the guidance of the teacher.

  • Assist with communication with parents (as appropriate and directed by the teacher).

  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.

  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.

  • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Must pass a background check and provide references.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel to interact with students at their level.
